As this season of "Idol" wraps up, the Twitterverse is wondering if the show's newest addition, Kara DioGuardi, will continue as a judge next season. Today, Newsday.com reported a Fox executive said in a conference call with reporters that "couldn't comment on that right now." Newsday.com mused that this meant either Kara is currently negotiating her contract with Fox, or she won't be returning at all.

Twitter users overwhelmingly tweeted that they won't miss the newest judge if she leaves:

Woody Allen Settles American Apparel Lawsuit

According to Reuters, film director Woody Allen settled a year-long lawsuit with Dov Charney, founder of the clothing company American Apparel, Inc., over the use of his image in the company's advertising.

Allen sued on the basis that billboard advertisements depicting him as a Hasidic Jew damaged his reputation, the article says. In the ads, Allen appears with a beard and black hat next to a Yiddish caption that translated to "the high rabbi."

Allen had originally sought $10 million in the lawsuit but settled out of court for $5 million.

"Five million dollars is enough to discourage American Apparel or any one else from ever trying such a thing again," Allen said outside federal court in Manhattan.

Charney refuted, saying the ads fell under the rights of free speech. "The billboards were designed to inspire dialogue," he said. "I am not sorry for expressing myself."

Twitterers shared their thoughts on the settlement:

  1. Peter Atencio
atencio I don't know what's more surprising: that Woody settled or that American Apparel didn't use a far more appropriate Roman Polanksi ad.

"Samantha Who?" and "Sarah Connor" Canceled

ABC's "Samantha Who?" and Fox's "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" will not be returning in the fall, according to news reports.

"Samantha Who?," starring Christina Applegate, was originally expected to return to the ABC lineup, but was unable to tighten its budget enough to come back for what would have been the show's third season.

According to Variety, ABC looked to cut around $500,000 by making several changes including switching from single camera shooting to using multiple cameras. The series, however, became less of a priority after ABC picked up 10 new series. Although "Samantha" showed great promise on Mondays, it began to falter when it switched to ABC's Thursday night lineup.

Twitterers were caught by surprise after the announcement:

  1. Lauren Kraul
kraulspace @pamelaribon My condolences. My mom and I bonded (not in a matching red jacket way) over Samantha Who? Nothing else makes us both laugh.
  2. Amanda Bedgood
amandabedgood @AccentOnLife say is isn't so of Samantha Who? Such a cute show!
  3. voyage2k
voyage2k @EWPopWatch That's really stupid! Samantha Who? was a very clever and funny show! :(

Fox's "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" also suffered a similar fate. Although the show had promising numbers in its Monday time slot, the viewership fell after it was moved mid-season to Fridays.

Both "Dollhouse" and "Sarah Connor" were up in the air for third season renewals and Fox ultimately felt "Dollhouse" was the best bet, giving it a renewal, according to TV Guide.

Even with "Terminator Salvation" due out in theaters this summer, Fox said buzz for the movie will not bring the show back. The show "has completed its run — and I think it had a nice little run," Fox Entertainment President Kevin Reilly said in the article. "We make no apologies. It had a huge launch ... and we gave it a lot of support. We tried, but it's time to move on."

Twitterers shared their disappointment:

Weekend Box Office Likes "Angels and Demons"

It was a blessed weekend for Ron Howard's film adaptation of "Angels and Demons," as it raked in an estimate $48 million at the box office.

But according to Entertainment Weekly, "Angels and Demons" fell short of its predecessor, "The DaVinci Code," which brought in $77.1 million during its debut in 2006.

J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek" beamed into second place with a strong $43 million during its second weekend. "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" rounded out the top three, bringing the film's three-weekend total to $151.1 million.

Filmgoers tweeted their reviews:

  1. Aimee
sermoa Angels & Demons was very good. We enjoyed it and thought that the deviations from the book were for the better - except for one wtf? moment!
  2. Matt Widmann
fray Angels and Demons was a good movie. Felt like a episode of 24. :)
  3. Rik van der Kroon
omigod Watched Angels and Demons in all its mediocrity. Are Dan Brown's books so bad they just can't make a good movie or is hollywood to blame?
  4. Marc Hobelman
