Memphis mom Lil Rounds and North Carolina crooner Anoop Desai made their exits from the "Idol" stage, leaving only 5 singers in the competition.
Two contestants were sent packing tonight since the judges used their "save" last week to keep Matt Giraud in the competition. Last night Giraud sang the Bee Gees' hit "Stayin' Alive," and, well, America kept him alive for at least one more week.
Some tweeters weren't too shocked with tonight's results.

mikedibernardo It was only a matter of time before Anoop and Lil Rounds were voted off American Idol. They're good, but there are some great singers left
But others will miss Lil and Anoop.

HoustonLynder Lil Rounds never actually performed to her best ability. Anoop is a wonderful singer...I will be one of the first to purchase a CD.

Also tonight "American Idol" watchers were treated to a performance by disco stars, including KC of KC and the Sunshine Band. Season 7 "Idol" runner-up David Archuleta also performed his new hit "Touch My Hand."
