Will There Be Another Season of "Scrubs"?

ABC is talking with the producers of "Scrubs" about the possibility of a new season next fall, according to Variety. It was previously believed that this would be the show's final year.

Star Zach Braff is reportedly interested in returning for a portion of episodes and, though no actors are signed for "Scrubs" beyond this year (and several have landed pilots this spring), some key players are likely to return.

Twitter users are unsure of a decision to continue the show as they continue to watch Season 8 unravel:

  1. Thomas Curry
Thomas122 new scrubs tonight, hopefully they make it as good as last year cos is it just me or is the season crap comapred to the old ones
  2. Cynthia Montoya
viresse12 ABC is thinking of renewing Scrubs for season 9?? I will not watch it without Zach Braff,&the other main characters. What are they thinking?
  3. Obscure82
aggettzz Hmmm just me or has scrubs gone downhill a bit this new season.
  4. Jamie Smith
JamboTheJourno don't know if I'm excited about the prospect of another new series of Scrubs. Season 8 has been pretty rubbish...
  5. Jeremy
jeremy_slc Scrubs might get a season 9? Interesting and i hope its true because with only a few episodes left not sure if they can wrap it up nicely

Fox Not Airing Obama Press Conference

In a statement sent out Monday, Fox confirmed that it will not air the presidential news conference set for 8 p.m. Wednesday, according to Variety. Instead, Fox will follow its planned schedule, airing an episode of "Lie to Me" followed by "American Idol."

Fox notes that it is the only major broadcaster not showing the conference and will alert viewers "with an onscreen graphic at the top of the 8 p.m. (ET) hour that the press conference is available on Fox News Channel and the Fox Business Network," the net said.

Though ABC, CBS and NBC will air the press conference, the third in primetime since Obama took office, these networks are struggling to make last-minute arrangements to avoid ad revenue loss.

Media Matters for America writer Karl Frisch posted a YouTube video on his Twitter and blog in response to Fox's recent decision.

While Fox said that the decision was not a political one, some Twitter users remained skeptical :

  1. Veronica
chile_pepper Obama, I love you. But will you be messing with my new #Lost episode tonight? If so we may be having our first fight. Cause it ain't on Fox.
  2. muckdog
muckdog Obama wants TV time tonight for 100 day anniversary. Fox says no, and is showing "Lie To Me" at that time slot. Isn't that the same thing?
  3. poplife1999
poplife1999 Fox is not going to broadcast Obama's press conference. Wtf?!? Talk about partisan media!

Others advocated the decision:

  1. Alan Bleiweiss
AlanBleiweiss RANT: Fox not broadcasting Obama 2nite. Most times if I think Pres is repeating same old stuff, I like choices. Good for Fox
  2. Courtney Kreimer
courtneykreimer Thankfully Fox was smart enough to refuse to show Obama's speech tonight- He doesn't to reaffirm how much he sucks at life on every network.

Supreme Court rules in favor of FCC

Celebrities such as Cher and Nicole Richie may be partly to blame for Tuesday's 5-4 U.S. Supreme Court decision to fine broadcasting companies for airing explicative language, according to the Chicago Tribune.

In 2004, The Federal Communications Commission decided to include the "F-word" and "S-word" in their definition of indecent material as a response to Richie's use of both words at the 2003 Billboard Music Awards and Cher's use of the "F-word" during the 2002 Billboard Music Awards.

This decision overturns the U.S. 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals decision against the FCC--which said there could be some toleration of expletives--but the Supreme Court failed to answer the constitutional question of whether the zero tolerance indecency policy violates the 1st Amendment. The question will have to be answered by the circuit court, which will likely be a lengthy process.

Based on the ruling, each expletive aired will cost broadcasters $325,000.

Twitter users responded harshly to the decision:

  1. Christopher Gizzi
SoItsComeToThis Anyone (besides me) a little annoyed w/ the SCOTUS FCC v Fox decision? What a cop-out! Although it could've been a pro-censorship ruling.
  2. Augustus
AVGVST Dear FCC - "fleeting expletives" don't destroy American families. Grow the F*ck up.
  3. Adrian Castro
ageman The FCC should also consider blasphemies, the B word and other extras. We should pray for that. Although the world likes it's words
  4. adrock44

PEOPLE Magazine unveiled its annual Most Beautiful issue today, with Christina Applegate on the cover.

The "Samantha Who?" star says she "started to come into my own in my late 20s and early 30s."
