Among the noteworthy decisions: "Sesame Street" will receive a lifetime achievement award; Susan Lucci from "All My Children
" and "The View" didn't get nominations; and "Guiding Light," the longest-running soap opera, received only 3 noms even though it will go off the air in September.

Mixed Reaction to Gossip Girl Spin-Off

The Twitterverse can't seem to decide how it feels about the Gossip Girl's spin-off starring Brittany Snow as Lily Van Der Woodsen growing up in the 80's. The show aired last night as a regular Gossip Girl episode but was essentially what the industry calls a "back-door pilot."

According to the blogosphere, reaction to the potential series isn't good good. New York Magazine's review of last night's test episode listed plenty of reasons as to why the show will probably fail. Roger Catlin of The Hartford Currant also gave a negative review, while the LATimes.com highlighted both positives and negatives.

Gossip Girl fans on Twitter also gave mixed reviews.

  1. Heather Brown
heathercaitlin hmm.gossip girl-80s style was better than i thought.true they're doing a valley girl spinoff with bsnow? would be interesting!
  2. thisrecording
thisrecording all right, I would officially watch the hell out of this 80s Gossip Girl spinoff. make it so, CW network officials!
  3. Alex Aceves
alexaace to Gossip Girl producers looking to twitterverse for reactions to the pseudopilot: please kill the lily spinoff. today's episode was awful.
  4. Jon Borbone
shazamy The flashback parts of tonight Gossip Girl were the best parts of the episode! PLEASE CW PICK UP THIS SPINOFF!!
  5. Ally Lattman
barefootgirl2 Not sure if I liked the Gossip Girl spinoff, but I'm sure I will still watch if it makes it on the air.
  6. Patrik Sandberg
cobaininacoma Gossip Girl's '80s spinoff looks like the worst TV show... Of all time?
  7. Jeff Kirk
kirker Liked tonight's quasi-"Gossip Girl" spinoff ep with Lily circa 1983-realistic except the hair needs to be MUCH poofier and moussed
  8. Paulina
wtfbrain I'm really glad the 80's Gossip Girl spinoff looks to be dead. That would have been way too cheesy.
  9. Lexie D.
lalalexieD Ack, I hope The CW picks up the Gossip Girl spinoff, because I thoroughly enjoyed last night's episode. Hello, 80's fashion!
  10. Egelyn Braun
egelyn Gossip Girl was good like always. I'm kind of glad that the 80's spinoff got cancelled because it was rather yawnworthy in this episode.

While Deadline Hollywood Daily reported last week that the show won't make it on to The CW's fall lineup, E!Online reported it still has a chance.
