Pixar's "Up" Opens Cannes

The Cannes Film Festival broke new ground by opening with a Pixar film. It was the first animated film, the first 3D film and the first Disney film to kick off the festival in its in 62-year history, according to The Australian.

Per CNN, Cannes audiences are notoriously vocal. They'll whistle if they're unhappy -- a French version of a boo -- and a movie that doesn't meet the audience's high standards will be treated to the repeated "whop" sounds of theater seats banging shut as patrons leave."Up," however, received little noise but cheers and stellar reviews from critics.

Ashton Kutcher Pranks CNN

Tweeters in Atlanta received a big surprise Wednesday when Ashton Kutcher, along with Demi Moore, invited them to "ding-dong-ditch" CNN founder Ted Turner's restaurant, Ted's Montana Grill.

After the dropping off nearly 800 boxes of ding dongs, Kutcher revealed a second mission: dropping a huge banner with his Twitter name @aplusk over the CNN headquarters.

The prank was the result of a challenge between CNN and Kutcher to race for one million followers on Twitter. Kutcher will also donate 10,000 mosquito bed nets to charity for World Malaria Day.

Kanye West Disses Twitter

Kanye West is more than just a little upset with Twitter, if his latest blog post is any indication. His beef stems from the high volume of West accounts on the site, even though none of them are actually his.

West blogged about the situation yesterday:

"(This spaz comes courtesy of losers making fake Kanye West Twitter accounts) I DON'T HAVE A F*ING TWITTER... WHY WOULD I USE TWITTER??? I ONLY BLOG 5 PERCENT OF WHAT I'M UP TO IN THE FIRST PLACE. I'M ACTUALLY SLOW DELIVERING CONTENT BECAUSE I'M TOO BUSY ACTUALLY BUSY BEING CREATIVE MOST OF THE TIME AND IF I'M NOT AND I'M JUST LAYING ON A BEACH I WOULDN'T TELL THE WORLD. Ryan Seacrest Reveals On Twitter He Knows "Idol" Results

A little more than an hour before the much-anticipated results show of "American Idol" went live, Ryan Seacrest revealed on Twitter that he knows who the final three contestants will be. The Twitterverse immediately reacted:

"Gavin DeGraw" on Twitter not the singer

Warning: Followers of the Twitter account @Gavin DeGraw are not reading the singer's tweets, according to gavindegraw.com. Said Twitterer, however, is not trying to pretend to be the singer--anymore.

The profile, under the name Gavin Jason DeGraw, claims under the “bio” section of the page that he is “NOT THE ARTIST! Guy with the same name.” The tone of his last post under that profile expressed frustration at the mix-up. Though, if you go back far enough and view his tweets from earlier in the year, as well as from the fall, he did in fact pretend to be the artist. He is now tweeting under the name @FakeGavinDegraw, his latest post reading “fake is the new real.”

Twitter users were genuinely fooled (and seemed a little saddened) by the 22-year-old from New York. Others are annoyed with the confusion and are looking out for their fellow Twitterers by warning them about what some suppose was an "impostor":

Webby's Honor Jimmy Fallon and Twitter

Per WebbyAwards.com, the winners of the 2009 Webby Awards have been announced and among the winners were Twitter for "Breakout Performance of the Year," Jimmy Fallon as "Webby Person of the Year" for his use of the internet to connect with viewers of his late night talk show, and Sarah Silverman as "Best Actress" for her YouTube video "I'm F***ing Matt Damon."

Coldplay to Give Fans Free Live Album

Per PEOPLE.com, on May 15 Coldplay will "give everyone attending concerts on their North American Viva la Vida summer tour a free live album."

"The give-away is meant as a recession-busting mark of gratitude to everyone who's supported them," says a message on Coldplay's Web site. "Playing live is what we love. This album is a thank you to our fans – the people who give us a reason to do it and make it happen."

The announcement was also made via Coldplay's Twitter account.
