Mixed Reaction to Gossip Girl Spin-Off

The Twitterverse can't seem to decide how it feels about the Gossip Girl's spin-off starring Brittany Snow as Lily Van Der Woodsen growing up in the 80's. The show aired last night as a regular Gossip Girl episode but was essentially what the industry calls a "back-door pilot."

According to the blogosphere, reaction to the potential series isn't good good. New York Magazine's review of last night's test episode listed plenty of reasons as to why the show will probably fail. Roger Catlin of The Hartford Currant also gave a negative review, while the LATimes.com highlighted both positives and negatives.

Gossip Girl fans on Twitter also gave mixed reviews.

While Deadline Hollywood Daily reported last week that the show won't make it on to The CW's fall lineup, E!Online reported it still has a chance.

Farrah Fawcett In Legal Mess With National Enquirer

Farrah Fawcett, currently battling cancer, now has another fight brewin. The U.S. General Attorney and the FBI are in the process of determining whether or not the National Enquirer paid a hospital worker to leak confidential information about her condition, according to Entertainment Weekly.

A story in the L.A. Times reported Lawanda Jackson, an administrative specialist, was the UCLA Medical Center employee who allegedly accessed Fawcett's records. When the hospital tried to remove her in July 2007, she quit her job.

American Media Inc., the parent company of the National Enquirer, continues to write stories about Fawcett, despite the severity of the pending issue.

Dr. Oz Leaving "Oprah Show"

Like Dr. Phil and Rachael Ray, another regular guest of "The Oprah Winfrey Show" is getting his own show. Dr. Mehmet Oz will end his regular appearances tomorrow with a farewell show, according to the Associated Press.

Oz has been on the show for five years and appeared in 55 episodes offering diet advice and discussing major medical issues.

Katie Price and Peter Andre Split

After four and a half years of marriage as one of Britain’s celebrity power couples, Katie Price and Peter Andre have confirmed that they are splitting, The Guardian reports.

The couple renewed their wedding vows in late September 2008 in what many saw as a last-ditch effort to save their failing marriage, which had been rocky after just three years of marriage, a source close to them said.

The statement released by the couple’s management company, Can Associates, reads:

"Peter Andre and Katie Price are separating after 4 and a half years of marriage, Can Associates Limited can confirm today. They have both requested that the media respect their families’ privacy at this difficult time."Twitterers are divided on the issue; some are upset, others amused by the news (likely members of the somewhat large camp dooming the marriage since the beginning). Rivers Beats Duke In Final "Apprentice" Faceoff

Comedian Joan Rivers was hired and poker champ Annie Duke was fired Sunday during the finale of "Celebrity Apprentice."

According to the Associated Press, Rivers' fundraiser gala was a better success than Duke's, cinching the win for Rivers and her chosen charity, God's Love We Deliver. The charity, which brings meals to the seriously ill who are home-bound, will receive $250,000.

The three-hour finale showed Duke and Rivers in a live boardroom session at Manhattan's Museum of Natural History. There they were given the verdict and host, Donald Trump, uttered the infamous line, "You're fired!"

Duke and Rivers exchanged barbs throughout the series, so it was no surprise when the two continued to hurl insults at one another during the finale.

The two women were the last of 16 celebrities vying for the title of Celebrity Apprentice. This was the show's eighth season, and it'll be back next year for a ninth one.
